Last 15 years nobody realized that banana plantations might become the most populated region in Alanya. Mostly residents from x-USSR countries invest money in real estate in Mahmutlar to live permanently or to rent out. In Mahmutlar many new apartment houses, complexes with the infrustructure are in the construction phase. There are no factories or production plants in Mahmutlar and that's the reason why it is considered to be an ecologically clean place for living.

Mahmutlar is divided by three main streets. The 1st one is promenade by the Mediterranean Sea, which is loved by the residents and the tourists. People walk there, go to the beach, rest in the arbours and exercise in the open gym areas. Along promenade road there are apartment houses and complexes, hotels and various shops. The 2nd one is Barbarosa Street, and is the main street in Mahmutlar. It is parallel to the promenade and 100 m from the sea. On that street you see many residential complexes, shops, ofices, cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, banks, and municipality buildings. The 3rd one is Ataturk Street. It is located closer to the mountains. Ataturk Street has many ofices and shops as well.
